Resistance 2

It's been about 3 years since the story of Resistance Fall of Man left off. It's also been about 3 years before Resistance 2 came out. Resistance 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Resistance Fall of Man. Read the rest and find out more.

--Story--

Resistance 2 leaves off from where Hale is walking off in the snow in Resistance FOM.  Hale is taken into a group of soldiers called, "Sentinels." After being hospitalized and checked out, we find out Hale has 19 hours to live, before he is fully transformed into a chimera. A doctor, Doctor Malikov, is the one who helps Hale stop the transformation. The goal is for Hale to get to a station that can stop the transformation from where he is. However, trying to do this was harder than expected. Hale meets a new enemy names "Daedalus." Daedalus is called what is known as a pure chimera, a race of chimera that roamed long ago. It turns out Daedalus is commanding the Chimeran forces. Doctor Malikov is his creator. Malikov was studying the pure chimeran race, and researched them. His first experiments, the Cloven (introduced in RFOM) were failures to create a pure chimera. Malikov created Daedalus by transfusing two human subjects to a pure chimera. One of the subjects' names was "Sheperd," and the other ones name is not revealed. Malikov tells Hale that he already knows who it is. So now Hale must find a way to stop Daedalus and the chimeran forces, risking his life. The ending is what amazes me most. I can only describe it as JAW DROPPING.

--Gameplay--

Resistance 2 uses a new engine, by taking out the few mechanics in RFOM. Resistance 2 uses an aiming system, similar to Call of Duty 4. They also took out the health bar, and replaced it with the classic flashing screen, and regeneration. In Resistance 2, you won't be able to hold a few arsenal, and you're limited to only two weapons. But don't worry, weapons are given out for certain scenarios to make up for you not being able to pull out the right one at the right time.  A wide array of weapons offers many tactics for the game. You'll see some familiar weapons such as the Carbine, Bullseye, LAARK, Rossmore, Fareye and Auger. New weapons such as the V7 Splicer, a saw like gun, The Magnum, a pistol with explosive rounds, the Pulse Cannon, which is a plasma firing cannon, and the Marksman, a battle rifle for long and short ranges. Resistance 2 also offers big boss battles. Some of these battles need some thinking and some tactics. THey are laos overall very visually appealing. Resistance 2 was created similar to most FPS's that are being created this time around. You'll certainly get to like the new engine.

--Graphics--

Resistance 2 has intense graphics. Resistance 2 uses a very wide color palette for in-game. Cutscenes don't look too bad either. Almost everything you'll find in Resistance 2 willbe very detailed, from grass on the ground, to water in a puddle, to the spark of a bullet. Water in Resistance 2 looks at the same time beautiful, and weird. When water is just flowing or falling, it looks incredibly real, but whenever a ripple is created, the ripples are almost 5x bigger than they should be. Half the time you see water, it will look really cool. Another thing, chimera look really cool in this game. As ugly they're supposed to be, the detail on their skin and armor look nothing less than incredible. The bosses have a lot to show off, so they made the big ones look extra detailed. You'll be surprised by how good it looks.

--Online--

As much as Resistance 2 has grown from RFOM, you'll find that it's strong points lay in online and co-op. Co-op is a second campaign, where you and other people around the world battle the chimeran race. What's so cool about co-op, is that people can choose a class. Classes are certain types of men you play as. Their are soldiers, medics, and spec-ops. Soldiers are the frontal assault and deal the most damage. Medics heal the spec-ops and soldiers. Spec-ops offers ammo to teammates, and damage to the enemy. Working together with these classes with ensure victory. Online is also as fun as co-op. Online has a 60 player maximum, which seems like a likely client to lag. However, depending on your own connection, lag isn't very much of a problem for 60 players. The 60 players are divided among squads which hold 5 people. This also helps utilize teamwork within a match. The problem is, there's no inter-squad communication. Online and co-op will definitely give satisfaction to those who buy it.
